I’ve been trying to switch up my Instagram algorithm to show more travel memes. I’ve got to say - some of these are absolute gold. I’m absolutely guilty of this week’s meme at the bottom of this email 😂.

Today’s in-flight entertainment:

🧠 CREDIT CARD STRATS/HACKS/TRICKS
Free Elite Status Matches Every Single Year

If you’ve been in the game for a while, you’ve probably heard of a method to match elite statuses across different programs, over and over, every year.

All good things come to an end, and while this “merry-go-round’ has been nerfed, what’s left of it may still be valuable to some.

This loop works because the expiration dates for each program’s status are offset. This is how it used to work:

Many things have changed since, and this is what it looks like now:

What we lost in the top right quadrant was one of the more valuable matches for casual gamers - Hyatt Explorist. The good news is if you spend a lot of time in Vegas or love cruises, there’s still solid value in the “merry-go-round.”

Caesars Diamond

Free parking, skip restaurant lines, waived resort fees, fast taxi queue, Diamond Lounge access
• Free 4-night stay at Atlantis
• $100 annual “Celebration Dinner”
• Free monthly show tickets

Hard Rock Atlantic City ICON

Nothing crazy: parking, cut lines, beach chairs. May change.

Ocean Atlantic City Prime

• 2 free nights at Resorts World Las Vegas, $100 dining, $100 free play
• Free annual 10-day MSC cruise with Ocean View for two
Must be first-timer or 18-mo inactive to status match

Cruises

• Free cruise offer/”match” from Carnival
• Free cruise offer/”match” from Holland America

As you can see, this easily amounts to hundreds/thousands in free perks.

You may have noticed from the diagrams above that this whole ride starts with Wyndham Rewards in the top left. That’s the current starting point.

This was a long-winded way of getting to the main point below.

The Wyndham Rewards Earner Business Card has an all-time high offer:

50k points after $4k spend in first 90 days
50k points after $15k in first 12 months
Annual fee: $95

This is the only Wyndham card that gives Wyndham Diamond status, allowing you to kick off your status matches. It’s also a solid option if you’re, for some reason, a Wyndham loyalist.

For a more in-depth breakdown of the “merry-go-round,” I’ll direct you to a great write-up by MilesTalk.

☁️ ON POINTS
Chase 25% Transfer Bonus to Air France/KLM Flying Blue

Until 04/30, Chase has a 25% transfer bonus to Flying Blue. This works well with the current Flying Blue promos, although there aren’t any business-class promos this month.

You can fly to some great destinations for cheaper such as Amsterdam, Paris, Nice, and French Polynesia.

As usual, don’t preemptively transfer without a specific redemption in mind.

Example: LAX to French Polynesia, biz class, for 70k pts (58.4k pts with bonus)

Citi 25% Transfer Bonus to Avianca LifeMiles

Until 04/13, Citi has a 25% transfer bonus to Avianca LifeMiles.

LifeMiles is well-known for its mixed-cabin pricing. As an example, say you’re flying a connecting flight:

[US CITY A] → [EU BIG CITY A] → [EU SMALL CITY B]

If you fly the whole route in business, it may cost something like ~65k pts. However, if you do the second leg in a lower cabin tier (because it should be shorter and more manageable), you could save 10-15k pts on your redemption.

Here are travel ideas to get your brain juices flowing:

• Brazil for 50k in biz class
• Africa for 78k in biz class
• Europe for 60k in biz class
• Lufthansa first class for 87k pts

Again, don’t preemptively transfer without a redemption in mind.
