Finnair Avios Sweet Spots, Increased Delta Offers, and a New White AMEX Design

Finnair Avios - 11k to 13k Pts For Domestic Awards (Including Hawaii)

Finnair introduced Avios as its new loyalty currency this year. You can now transfer Avios between British Airways, Qatar, Iberia, Vueling, and Aer Lingus.

The most exciting part of this revamp is the new award charts that come with it. I took a cursory glance and it seems the sweet spots are short-haul flights. Domestic US flights warranted an extra look; take a look at these 2 award charts:

Domestic economy awards start at 11k for both programs, with Hawaii starting at 13.5k/15k for Alaska/AA respectively.

With Turkish Airlines’ recent devaluation, economy redemptions are nearly at par. It should also be significantly easier to find awards. There may be something here 👀.

In a worst-case scenario, Delta’s “Pay With Miles” gets you 1 cent per mile towards airfare, making these SUBs worth at least $650 - $1.1k. There’s also a 15% discount on award flights for cardholders, bumping the value a bit.

Images of this new card design appeared on some AMEX testing sites. Purely posting this because it looks pretty nice. It’s speculated the release will coincide with the increased annual fee.
