It’s time to STOP using Honey and Credit Karma

  • Ditch Honey: Kudos doubles your credit card rewards.

  • Nerdwallet, but better: One app for all your cards.

  • Simplify shopping: Autofill payments with a single click.

📣 WHAT EVERYONE’S TALKING ABOUT

  • ICYMI - For beginners or casuals, last call to get the Capital One Venture 75k + $250 travel credit SUB (expires 09/09)

  • Hyatt has a targeted bonus to earn up to 90k points for qualifying nights. Check if you’re targeted here (I’m not 😢).

  • Marriott has up to 4k bonus points (2k base + 2k if MGM property) on each 2+ night stays. Register here by 11/12 for stays b/w 09/10 to 11/26.

    • Marriott is also giving 2k bonus points on 2+ night stays for Marriott cardholders. Register here or log in and check promotions.

  • And finally, Marriott has a targeted offer for 2x elite night credit on Marriott Homes & Villas. Register here and book by 09/20 for stays by 12/31.

  • Breeze Airways has 50% off base fares with code BIGDEAL. Book by 09/05, today. Make sure you read the abundant fine print, which…you know what that means.

  • Norse Atlantic has a sale from 09/04 to 09/12 with one-way fares to Europe starting at $135 + taxes. London, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Athens, Oslo, etc. And again, read the fine print.

The card earns 2% cash back on every purchase and up to an additional 2% cash back based on your deposits:

  • $5,000 to $49,999 - 25% bonus, or 0.5% for 2.5% total

  • $50,000 to $99,999 - 50% bonus, or 1% for 3.0% total

  • $100,000+ - 100% bonus, or 2% for 4.0% total

You must have a U.S. Bank Smartly Savings account and your tier is calculated on the average daily combined qualifying balances in U.S. Bank deposit, trust or investment accounts.

Investment accounts are interesting as your money isn’t sitting there earnings 0 interest.

This card and program look like a competitor to Bank of America’s Preferred Rewards program. BoA caps out at 2.625% cash back everywhere on their Unlimited Rewards business card with Platinum Honors tier (75% bonus on 1.5% cash back card).

However, there are ways to bump BoA’s effective cash back rate significantly higher, making it likely the better play still.

For now, sign up for the waitlist until more details are released.

⏳️ FINAL BOARDING CALL - TIME-SENSITIVE
90k Chase Ink Unlimited Available Via Referral

This is an all-time high offer and a no-brainer.

Offer details:

  • 90k Ultimate Rewards points after $6k spend in first 3 months

  • 0% APR for 12 months after which APR is variable (see terms)

  • Annual fee: $0

Learn more about the Chase Ink Unlimited here (referral if you want to support me, thanks in advance).

They’ll also match sign-up offers going back about 1 month, so send Chase a secure message and shoot your shot.

Offer details:

  • 75k AA miles after $3.5k spend in first 4 months

  • Annual fee: $0 first year, then $99

Continues to be a great option as you can never have too many AA miles. A single SUB is nearly a first-class flight to Japan at ~80k points one-way.

Offer details:

  • 60k Hyatt points after $5k spend in first 3 months

  • 15k Hyatt points after total $12k spend in first 6 months

  • Annual fee: $199

  • Expires 09/26

Makes sense if you’re going for Hyatt status via credit card spend as you get 5-tier qualifying nights for every $10k spend. However, the opportunity cost of getting another 1-2 Inks is high so keep that in mind.

Bank bonuses have been rather dry recently. This is a nice easy one to do if you don’t already have an account with them.

Offer details:

  • Open Step account before 09/30

  • Make 1 direct deposit within 30 days of account opening

    • Deposit <$149: no bonus

    • Deposit $150 - $499: $100 bonus

    • Deposit $500+: $200 bonus

  • Must make $20 in settled card purchases within 30 days of account opening to receive bonus payout

If you apply through my referral above, you’ll get an additional $50.

ACHs from other banks will likely trigger the direct deposit requirement if you don’t have a legitimate one. Poke around.

☁️ ON POINTS
Legendary 5-Star Palace in Biarritz, France - 35k to 45k Hyatt Points per Night

Image credit: Hôtel du Palais Biarritz

La Rotonde - Signature restaurant at the hotel

Suite room example

In the southwest corner of France sits the symbolic jewel of Biarritz overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. This palace was founded in 1854 and was the former imperial residence of Napoleon III and Empress Eugenie.

Furthermore, this hotel has the “Palace” distinction which puts it above your lowly 5-star hotels. Only 31 hotels in France have this distinction.

This is an amazing option for a quaint getaway in a quiet seaside town.

Hotel du Palais Biarritz is a category 8 hotel, meaning award nights will range between 35k-45k points a night depending on time of year. Using MaxMyPoint (referral but it’s also free), you can see that there’s wide-open availability for many months, including May 2025 which is shoulder season and a great time to visit.

Accumulating Points

Some may think Hyatt cards are the best way to get Hyatt points, but you want to be opening Chase cards for maximum value.

Chase Ultimate Rewards are more versatile and can be transferred to a massive list of airline and hotel partners which Hyatt is a part of.

Currently, the Chase Ink Unlimited SUB is at 90k points (referral), immediately getting you 2 nights at the Hotel du Palais Biarritz. Pair that with another Chase Ink card (yes, you can have more than one) and you’ve easily created a 4-5 day vacation at this stunning Palace hotel.
